Katherine 2012 itinerary

Shown in the map below is the planned route for the 2012 trip to Katherine. I say planned but realistically there are not that many options in terms of route :) We have done this route before, back in 2009, so we plan to revisit many great places and catch up on things we missed. The table below shows where we expect to stop and a basic rating. The rating is subjective :) but i will also try and link up to Badger's Caravan Park Reviews where you will see a better representation of peoples thoughs on a particular park or location. I will submit my own reviews to this site as i can.

Edit: 4/2/11 - Added Cadney Park in place of Marla as an overnight stop. We are also looking for recommendations on Value accommodation in Alice Springs. Macdonnell Ranges Holiday Park, which would be our first place to recommend will be considered expensive for our purposes on this trip. We don't have kids with us so wont make use of much of the facilities. Also updated links to Badgers Australian caravan park reports.

Edit 12/3/12 - We wont be staying at Daly Waters now due to their being booked out on cabins. We ad planned to stay there in our caravan whilst family traveled down from Katherine to stay with us in Cabins. Daly Waters is hosting a B&S Ball, a Rodeo and a Beach Party all over the same weekend we were planing to stay here. Therefore, we are now planing to stop at Mataranka which is only a short drive from Katherine so the family can still come down to see us. With only 3 weeks left we will keep you posted on the trip :)

Edit 8/4/12 - just a quick update to the plan below. We chnaged some parks after Alice Springs, stopping only at Banka Banka station. Mum and Dad wanted to get to Rachels due to the excessive heat. The temperatures have been well above average for the region, hovering around 40deg for most of the trip above Port Augusta.
